Day 1- Ólafur Arnalds – "Particles" ft. Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir

It’s happening right now. There’s an actual pandemic, quarantine across the globe, lockdowns in many countries and now implemented in my state of California. What the F is actually happening right now.? How are you? what can I do to support you? This is all very confusing – I hope you are safe and well, with everything and everyone you need.

I am starting my blog all over again during this thing. With all of the time in the world , so many deep cuts and so much musical medicine, the need to share and support, this is my music diary of how I am moving through what is happening right now, hoping that it can soothe whoever reads it. Music is my #1 coping mechanism- sharing is my #2. I have not used wordpress in many years, so it might be an awkward beginning, but we’re all good awkward right now, right? Also, you can find my quarantine playlist called “Acceptable Distance” here… it is a journey into what happens when we have no other choice but to slow down, stop, and just be with ourselves (and quarantine fam), together.

Ólafur Arnalds – “Particles” ft. Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir – this song is holding my hand right now. It’s a weighted blanket, keeping my heart open and exposed but still warm. It’s sad and raw and real- and so incredibly beautiful. The song is on Olafur’s 2016 album “Island Songs” that features artists from his native country of Iceland. Nanna is from the band Of Monsters and Men. Enjoy ❤ and Stay well.

Day 1~ Nicolas Jaar “And I Say” ft Scout Larue and Will Epstein

Annnd we begin again, our third “Day 1”.

I heard this song for the first time yesterday and feel like I am way late to the Nicolas Jaar party. So late that he played a sold out show in LA last night and I had no idea.
His music is sexy, pure and simple. This song features the surprisingly sultry vocals of Scout Larue, daughter of Demi Moore/Bruce Willis, and the combination of hand drums and saxophone. A wicked combination. Wicked good.
